The Hype of Nakedness

Image
Over the past few weeks I've come to something of a realisation: my body is mine, I can change it to a degree but it will always be my body. It will have blemishes and marks, stretches and hair and lines and it will not always be taught or tight. My body is perfect, I may not have always thought so but it is. And I am happy.

Insightful Industry with Chung

If you haven't seen Alexa Chung's series with Vogue these past few weeks then you might not want or nee to continue reading. If I'm honest you probably found the wrong blog to look at. However if you have seen them, if Alexa is somewhat a deity (OK, slight exaggeration) to you and this new series is at the forefront of your viewing pleasures then read on and on and on.

NYFW Favourite

Image
It's over for another year, and we're all still trying to digest. The vital month, paving the way for fashion and style for the next year. Tackled with the holy edition of Vogue (the long awaited September issue) and the Vogue Runways app open at all times this past week has been one of the most exciting I've experienced in fashion.

Open Day Adventures

So I'm at that stage...yes, the one you all know about and dread. The time of personal statements and prospectuses and lecture halls where you know all this, of course you do, you've read the course outline a million times.

Empire Records

Image
Teenage sadness, love bites like hell and I just want to rebel.  Cheesy, cliche and very teenage stereotype. But that phrase sums up the 1990's cult film Empire Records and more directly the emotion you feel from the soundtrack.

Book Review August

Image
Ok, so it might be a couple days late but I've been trying to find the best book to sum up the summer and nothing can beat a travel book. A book filled with reference points, hotels, restaurants and perfectly categorised geographically.

Baking's Back...

Image
August should be rainbow parasols and ice cream cone afternoons! But I am in Britain, the land of unpredictable weather but the brilliant BBC show....Great British Bake Off; which kicked off last week! And to celebrate the best time of the year (that isn't an exaggeration, I am completely and undisputedly British Bake Off barmy) I have been testing my baking skills...now I can't say I'd want Mary to take a bite of my buns but I was pretty proud of these lemon delights. I'm not going to do a full review of the show and my food favourites just yet but I wanted to put some significance to it's beginning. So I'll return to talk baking when there's more gossip but till then...eat well and bake indulgently!

Best Buys

Image
So now I'm settled back into work, back on schedule with friends and results day for my AS exams is a week away I have decided it's high time I re-organised...and congratulated myself on nothing specific at all. My first purchase reflects the hectic business of my life I really need to rein in: my yearly diary. It's patterned, it's 18 months long and it was extremely pretty and calling my name. Commence with birthday filling in, appointment making can resume and at least now I can have written confirmation of deadlines (my one fatal flaw). The second, joint and indulgent purchase chases a dream of a six year old with all the silent excitement of a stressed out young adult: intricate colouring book? YES PLEASE. They're all the rage, apparently, colouring books for the stress ridden adult; a need for mindfulness, focus and peace can be found in the hundreds of flowers, keeping between the lines and mini 'treasure hunt'. I would advise anyone who's on

We may say goodbye to the blue skies of summer but autumn brings with it moody blues and suede and silk, dark delights of navy and a brooding palette of the softer colours of life. Blue is the divine and elegant on fashion. It heralds confidence and subtlety, ready for casual, professional or all out couture.

Look What Arrived

Image
So upon my return from India a lovely little envelope was waiting for me. Now I love post, I don't know why but I like to think it's a commonly shared feeling among the younger generations who don't receive bills and the like. But I must admit, this envelope was exceptionally exciting, because my LFWEnd tickets arrived and it means I can start shopping for my outfit... I've got my tickets, have you? If so, what will you be wearing, what are you excited to see? Maybe it's the designers catwalk, or the new season styles? Whatever it may be, don your trench coats and get ready for the autumn breeze in Soho this September...and maybe I'll see you there.

Book Review July

Image
It may be late and it may heavy but I promised and I hope I haven't disappointed. This months book review revisits one of my favourites and a book that over the past few years has been there through difficult times and easy; it is a story that does not exactly tell you anything but leaves footprints of speculation in my mind.

Imagining India

Image
I've been back in the UK two days and I still can't grasp what I've actually returned from. I know in terms of geography where I've been, I know that the culture I immersed myself in was far different from my own. However, how hard I try to put into words what I saw and did I cannot.

Temperamental Travelling

Image
Perhaps a little update may be in order...in case maybe anyone thought I disappeared. Which I didn't. This week has been hectic, these next two weeks will be extraordinary, today will be tiring. To clarify my cryptic beginning, I have not been home and will not be at home in the next fifteen days. It's holiday time, but unfortunately this year wifi and relaxation are not priority...yes, I know, hold the shock.

Another thing I'm hoping to try out as a fortnightly feature is a collection of colour trends found in different season styles and shows. This means that for the next couple of months I'm going to share my favourite Spring/Summer 2015 trends all meticulously categorised in colour palettes that blend and contrast perfectly. Kicking it off with the three P's: Pastels, pink and purple!

Book Review June

Image
So I think I'm going to try a monthly book review, for two incentives. The first is to keep readers of the blog updated regularly and to share my monthly companions with you. The second is my personal incentive to keep reading; which admittedly over the last few months has been a great weakness...though it is understandable that I read and re-read Jane Eyre for my literature exam while neglecting Theo Decker and his art thievery. But anyway; that's the plan, and I hope I can hold it up because what I read is often the greatest telltale of what I'm feeling at the time.

Icons of the Ages

Image
OK, this is it, the real deal. I'm kicking it off with a bang. A literal cosmic, carrying you through the decades explosion of my personal iconic favourites.  Before I could even contemplate my future relationship with fashion I first had to understand where my love for fashion began. Albeit odd sounding, and I know you're sat there wondering whether my fashion future is healthy or not; I can assure you I'm not crazy.  I merely mean that I started loving fashion because of something, someone, some iconic style. I'm about to share those influences with you...
